  • Check-in is at the Bear Lake Reserve Greeter’s Cottage, located at the front gate.
  • You may check-in anytime after 4pm on the day of your arrival. We will provide you with an orientation to the community and a map to show you your way to your vacation rental. Click here to view a map of EA properties and amenities before you arrive.
  • The Greeters Cottage closes at midnight during our off-season, if you are going to be checking in after hours please notify our hospitality team (828) 293-3455 in advance to make arrangements to pick up your keys and gate codes.
  • The staffed Greeter’s Cottage hours are 8am-12am, 7 days a week.
  • Check-out is at 10:30am. Please return Keys and Gate Cards to the Greeter’s Cottage.
  • If you need assistance, please contact our hospitality team at (828) 293-3455
  • Bear Lake Reserve is a rural area and cell phone service is limited. We recommend you arrive during the day as driving can be difficult if arriving at night.

Bear Lake Reserve sits along the shores of Bear Lake in North Carolina’s iconic Blue Ridge Mountains.  The nearby towns of Cashiers and Sylva are just a short drive away, leaving anything you need accessible and anything you don’t need far, far away.

Please use the directions below when making the trip, and please be sure to keep an eye out for Shook Cove Road as you approach.  It’s a small, quiet raod that winds you into our entrance.

From Atlanta:

Take I-85 North to I-985 North, merge with U.S. 23/441.
Travel north through Franklin and into Dillsboro, NC.
Turn right onto Business U.S. 23 (Main Street).
Follow through downtown Dillsboro and Sylva.
Main Street becomes NC 107 South.
Follow NC 107 along the Tuckasegee River for 12 miles.
Turn left onto Shook Cove Road.
Continue on Shook Cove Road for approximately 3.9 miles.
Turn right at Main Entrance and go about 0.3 miles to Greeter’s Cottage.

From Asheville:

Take I-240 West to I-40 West (20 miles).
Take Exit 27 – Hwy 10/23/74 to Sylva (21 miles).
Take Exit 85 East, follow ramp to Hwy 107.
Turn left onto 107 South.
Follow NC 107 along the Tuckasegee River for 12 miles.
Just past the junction of SR-281 in Tuckasegee, turn left on Shook Cove Road.
Continue on Shook Cove Road for approximately 4 miles.
Turn right at Main Entrance and go continue to the Greeter’s Cottage.

From Florida’s West Coast:

Take I-75 North through Atlanta.
Take I-85 North to I-985 North, merge with U.S. 23/441.

From The North Carolina Piedmont:

Take I-40 West through Asheville.
Take exit 27 onto Great Smoky Mountain Expressway (U.S. 74 West) toward Waynesville/Sylva.
Take Exit 85 onto U.S. 23 and travel 1.5 miles.
Turn left onto NC 107 South and follow along the river 12 miles.
Turn left onto Shook Cove Road in Tuckasegee and proceed for approximately 4 miles.
Turn right at Main Entrance and continue to the Greeter’s Cottage.

From The Atlantic Coast:

Take I-95 North to I-26 West in SC.
Continue to I-40 West in the Asheville area.
Take exit 27 onto Great Smoky Mountain Expressway (U.S. 74 West) toward Waynesville/Sylva.
Take Exit 85 onto U.S. 23 and travel 1.5 miles.
Turn left onto NC 107 South and follow along the river 12 miles.
Turn left onto Shook Cove Road in Tuckasegee and proceed for approximately 4 miles.
Turn right at the Main Entrance and continue to the Greeter’s Cottage.

Please note that the entrance to Shook Cove Road is modest, so keep a look out.  To help, it is right between the small bridge and the 281 Junction in Tuckasegee.
